Background
SFC Gabriel Stillman grew up in Milton, MA, where he studied saxophone with Bill Vint (John Allmark Jazz Orchestra) and Bob Bowlby (Boston Pops), and clarinet with Linda Poland (New Bedford Symphony Orchestra). SFC Stillman graduated Cum Laude honors with a bachelor’s degree in music education from Illinois Wesleyan University, where he studied clarinet with Roger Garrett (Peoria Symphony Orchestra).
In 2014 he enlisted in the US Army Bands and served in the US Army Ground Forces Band and the 82nd Airborne Division Band, where he was awarded the Colonel Finley R. Hamilton Outstanding Military Musician Award in 2015 and Music Performance of the Year award in “Original Music” category in 2016.
In 2018 SFC Stillman enlisted in the Army National Guard and has served in the 215th Army Band ever since. He holds a master’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering from Boston University and is a General Engineer for the US Department of Transportation.
